Dr. Dorothy Bulas, MD is a professor of pediatrics and radiology at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and serves as Chief, Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiology and Director of Fetal Imaging of the Prenatal Pediatric Institute at Children’s National Hospital, in Washington DC. She is a fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the American College of Radiology, Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound and American Association of Pediatrics. 

A past president of the Society for Pediatric Radiology, her main areas of interest include fetal imaging, pediatric ultrasound, transcranial Doppler and radiation safety. She has authored over 160 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 80 invited articles and chapters. She is a co-author of Fundamental and Advanced Fetal Imaging: Ultrasound and MRI, and serves as a reviewer for multiple journals and as a perinatal section editor for the Pediatric Radiology Journal.

Dr. Bulas has delivered over 170 national and international invited lectures and has helped plan pediatric radiology conferences in the United States, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Haiti, Eritrea and Brazil.  A founding member of the World Federation of Pediatric Imaging (WFPI), Dr. Bulas is a past president of the WFPI. She served as chair of the ACR Foundation’s international outreach committee.

Dr. Bulas has served on the ACR Pediatric Radiology Practice Guidelines Committee and as section chair for certificate of qualification in pediatrics for the American Board of Radiology. She chaired the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education milestones committee for the pediatric radiology fellowship program and also served on the milestones committee for radiology residency.
